Use a stable holder

A capsule, stand or properly sized inert holder can reduce rubbing and repeated handling. Avoid tight materials that could scratch a plated surface.

Control the environment

Keep collectibles away from persistent moisture, direct sunlight and large temperature swings. These conditions can affect finishes, paper inserts and packaging.

Handle minimally

Clean, dry hands and edge handling are sensible defaults. For sensitive metal surfaces, gloves can reduce fingerprints, though they can reduce grip.

Label without damaging

Keep identifying information on a separate archival card or database rather than attaching adhesive labels directly to the collectible.
